Well, I’ve found it rather discouraging not having a good camera all this time… so I haven’t been too enthusiastic about photographing my dolls because the photos don’t do them justice whatsoever. But! My father has just accquired a camera that actually takes rather decent up close photos! It’s not perfect… and I still want a Nikon, but it’ll actually do for now I think! Maybe now I’ll actually feel inspired to make more dolls… since now I can show them to you! And – maybe even sell some on ebay or something.
This is my most recent doll. She’s the one that Evan donated his hair too! Haha. Poor Evan … and wouldn’t you know it, I found my doll hair in a container in the closet not long after. That’s ok though, I think Evan’s hair actually looks quite nice on her.
I won an Honorable Mention award for this doll in the TCC Art Show last semester.
I’m thinking polymer is probably going to be my forte … if not my main medium of choice. I love painting and drawing but, I love making dolls even more, and would really like to invest more time in this. My drawing has even gone a bit on the wayside due to me wanting to do this kind of thing. lol
On the award it shows her titled as “Little Mermaid” but I’ve since decided to call her Marina (stealing the name from the first mermaid I did… who I renamed to Pearl! haha).
Sculpted in Prosculpt clay. She has actual glass eyes, and her hair is Mohair and looks and feels quite real. Tail was colored with mica powder and fantasy film for fins.
Also sorry about the date stamp. I took these photos just playing around with the camera to see how it works and I forgot that my hair-brained father likes date stamps and it kinda ruined the photos.
But that’s ok… i’ll get better photos later. She’s covered up because this was during a faire I was vending at and I had to make her decent for that, but she’s supposed to be nude. Anyway…. better photos at a later time. Promise!
