Finally an update! :)

Well, I’ve found it rather discouraging not having a good camera all this time… so I haven’t been too enthusiastic about photographing my dolls because the photos don’t do them justice whatsoever. But! My father has just accquired a camera that actually takes rather decent up close photos! It’s not perfect… and I still want a Nikon, but it’ll actually do for now I think! Maybe now I’ll actually feel inspired to make more dolls… since now I can show them to you! And – maybe even sell some on ebay or something. ;)

This is my most recent doll. She’s the one that Evan donated his hair too! Haha. Poor Evan … and wouldn’t you know it, I found my doll hair in a container in the closet not long after. That’s ok though, I think Evan’s hair actually looks quite nice on her.

I won an Honorable Mention award for this doll in the TCC Art Show last semester. :) I’m thinking polymer is probably going to be my forte … if not my main medium of choice. I love painting and drawing but, I love making dolls even more, and would really like to invest more time in this. My drawing has even gone a bit on the wayside due to me wanting to do this kind of thing. lol

On the award it shows her titled as “Little Mermaid” but I’ve since decided to call her Marina (stealing the name from the first mermaid I did… who I renamed to Pearl! haha). :) Sculpted in Prosculpt clay. She has actual glass eyes, and her hair is Mohair and looks and feels quite real. Tail was colored with mica powder and fantasy film for fins.

Also sorry about the date stamp. I took these photos just playing around with the camera to see how it works and I forgot that my hair-brained father likes date stamps and it kinda ruined the photos. :)   But that’s ok… i’ll get better photos later. She’s covered up because this was during a faire I was vending at and I had to make her decent for that, but she’s supposed to be nude.  Anyway…. better photos at a later time. Promise!

RIP Evan’s Hair

Well…. my huge bag of tibetan lambs wool and viscose hair has gone MISSING somehow. I dunno where it disappeared to or if I put it up in some stupid spot which I have now forgotten. I’ve been pretty busy with school lately so I haven’t sculpted in a while. Well got an art show this weekend and I really want to do another mermaid to put in the show but I have no hair to put on her! There’s not enough time to buy new hair before the show and I am kinda broke anyways. So … Evan’s getting a haircut.  He was one of the first dolls I sculpted but I used this realy crappy sculpey stuff that’s so fragile you barely even have to touch it for it to break.  I really wanna resculpt him anyway … his clothing and wings are removeable so can be added to a new version easily. Or I could always get some more brown hair and just give him a new hairdo. Either way his hair’s going chop chop! My mother disapproves. : p You probably do too. Just think of it like donating locks of love… in the doll sense.

This is Evan. RIP Evan…  til you’re reborn anyways. :p

I will slowly be moving from Livejournal to here soon. I will still update livejournal with friends only posts and important announcements from time to time, but the majority of my posting will be done here. So if you know me from livejournal and are a member here please be sure to add me (or become a member ? I am not entirely sure how this site works in that respect yet. :) still finding my way around here). If you are a fan of my artwork or just like fairy/fantasy/furry artwork please be sure to add this new blog to your favorites! You can find much of my artwork on my website and on deviantart. I have been without a computer for some months but just got myself a new laptop, so I hope to start updating with artwork again on my website soon. Until then, deviant art is the most up to date.
